• Push Notifications for OzarksBiker Community Chat

Push Notifications are not yet available, but there is a workaround to get text messages instead of emails.

It’s been possible for a very long time to send text messages to phones using your email account. You just need to know the email address to send the message to. Since OzarksBiker.com has the ability to send you an email, all you have to do is change your OzarksBiker.com account’s email address to your phone’s email address. The drawback is that those messages are limited to the old limitation of 140 characters, and that if you use your email address to log in, you have to remember to start using your phone’s email address or log in with your OzarksBiker Nickname instead.

If want the convenience of getting those text messages in place of Push Notifications, there’s some information you’ll need.

    • Visit this LINK to find the SMS Gateway information for your cellular carrier.
    • Log into OzarksBiker.com and go to Account> Login Information.
    • Enter your current password so that the system will accept your new email address.
    • Enter your new email address. It will look something like 4175551212@text.att.net.
    • Click on Save Changes.
    • Check your email inbox of your regular email account and look for a confirmation email. Click the link in the email that says “go here to confirm the change“.

Once you do that, you should start getting text messages. As an added measure, and because I’ve already seen where this was a problem on a Google Pixel, add OzarksBiker@gmail.com to your address book.

Another method you can use to accomplish all of this while still getting the full length email AND and a text message is to set a forwarding rule in your email application.

Please comment with any questions or issues.

Google Voice, and other “free” numbers that are acquired through “free texting” applications generally will not work for this because they do not have an Email Gateway.
