80 Degrees, and nowhere to ride

Spread the word

The weather is just absolutely beautiful out today, 80 degrees with pretty clear skies.  Through the thin walls of my office, I can hear the sound of young and indestructible sport bike riders whizzing through the downtown area.  The sun won’t set today until 6:05 PM, so it’s really a great day to get out, even if just for a short ride.  Even if you are office-bound like me.  Normally, I would be looking forward to quittin’ time and getting on the bike.  Not today.

The main reason I’m not riding today is because I’m fighting a sinus infection.  YUCK!!!  My chest is so congested that it feels like a belt is tied around it.  If I weren’t sitting at a desk all day, I’d probably be passed out from overexertion and lack of oxygen.  At least that’s how I feel.  Just know that I’m jealous of all of you.

The only saving grace is that I have the power of knowledge.  Knowledge that the weather app says there is a “marginal risk of severe weather today.”  In my head, I’m making lemonade out of the lemons in the knowledge that if I was out, there’s a chance I could have been caught in some bad weather.  Now, I’m not a fair weather rider, but I normally don’t ride in bad weather on purpose.  So that makes me cautious, not too sick to ride.  I think I’ll just close my eyes for a bit and listen to the that sport bike symphony.
